Gang Specific Treatment Program (GSTP)
The Gang Specific Treatment Program (GSTP) is a specific program tailored to the needs of children, adolescents and adults that are suspected or involved with gangs. The program focuses on understanding the contributing factors to gang involvement and addressing maladaptive behaviors. The philosophy utilized is that no individual wakes up and decides they want to associate with a gang, but it is the learned behavior in which they have been exposed to or experienced. The Gang Specific Treatment Program utilizes a trauma informed approach which can entail the following:
- Comprehensive Gang Threat Assessment
- Individual and Family Therapy which can be provided in the home or office.
- Gang specific treatment groups
Gang Specific Treatment Program (GSTP) can also be implemented through home based services. Clinicians in the Gang Specific Treatment Program (GSTP) range from Gang Specialist through the National Gang Crime Research Center to Licensed Clinicians.
